COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The Temple women's gymnastics team (0-2), led by first-year head coach Aaron Murphy, opened its 2007 campaign Friday evening with a third place finish (182.650) behind Towson (191.175) and host Ursinus (184.150). Senior Noelle Moore captured the Owls' lone first place performance after posting a 9.700 in the floor exercise.

As a team, Noelle Moore's floor exercise performance contributed to the Cherry and White's second-ranked score of 46.275. The Owls turned in a 46.725 on the vault, a 45.700 on the balance beam and a 43.950 on the uneven parallel bars. The Tigers, competing in their second meet this season, captured the top spot on each apparatus.

In addition to garnering the floor exercise's top spot, Moore, with junior Alycia Petitto, produced fifth place finishing 9.450 scores on the balance beam. The same tandem matched each other on the vault with 9.475 scores and a ninth place finish.

Sophomore Nikki Berrian placed fifth (9.450) on the uneven parallel bars while senior co-captain Jillian Kornett placed eighth (9.150). Kornett, rebounding from a strained MCL, finished seventh (35.850) as the Owls' lone all-around performer.

Freshman Tiffany Shepherd, making her collegiate debut, finished ninth on the floor exercise with a 9.375. In addition to Shepherd, freshmen Danielle Viens (8.825) and Monica Zuber (8.850) made their first collegiate appearances competing in the floor exercise and on the balance beam, respectively.

The Cherry and White will look to rebound Wednesday night, January 24, at 7:00 p.m. in their home opener against Rutgers.
