Women's Track Places 10th at Great Dane Classic

NEW YORK, NY - The Temple women's track and field team competed at New York City's 168th Street Armory for the second straight week on Friday and finished 10th out of 22 teams. Freshman Brittney McRae performed well in three different events, finishing third in the long jump (18-3), eighth in the 55m hurdles (8.34) and 18th in the 55m dash (7.46). Freshman Melissa Gale placed second in the pole vault with a season-high mark of 11-3 3/4 while sophomore Amanda Cole broke her own school record in the weight throw (46-9 3/4), good for 11th.
Junior Cheryl Anscombe matched McRae in the 55m, finishing 18th (7.46). Sophomore Carlleen Allison was eighth in the 200m (26.62), while junior Shanice DePass was also eighth in the 800m (2:23.96).
Sophomore Devon DuPont was eighth in the high jump (5-1) and 15th in the long jump (16-10 1/2). Junior Kimberlyn Hill placed eighth in the triple jump (36-2 1/2) to wrap up the scoring for Temple.
Connecticut won the event with 172 points, followed by Northeastern (114.5) and host Albany (97).
The Owls are back in action next weekend at the Terrier Classic at Boston University.
