Temple Returns Home Hoping to Keep Winning Streak Alive

PHILADELPHIA- Temple (9-4) hopes to extend its winning streak to six games when it hosts the Brown Bears (2-10) on Friday night at 7 p.m. This is the fourth meeting between the Owls and the Bears. Brown leads the series, 2-1, which began in the 1992-93 season. The Owls took the last meeting, 68-61, on November 19, 2004, in Providence, R.I.
Kamesha Hairston's career-high 34 points gave Temple its first win over Florida, an 85-80 overtime battle, on Tuesday afternoon. Hairston added 10 boards and six steals for her seventh double-double of the season, while LaKeisha Eaddy had 18 points and a career-high six steals. Temple recovered from a horrible first-half shooting percentage to win their fifth straight game. Shenita Landry also saw double figures with 11 points and nine rebounds, eight of which were offensive, while Lady Comfort grabbed 11 rebounds to help the Owls' 46 total rebounds. Fatima Maddox dished a game-high six assists and contributed nine points.Hairston leads Temple in scoring and rebounding, averaging 22.2 ppg and 9.9 rpg. Comfort is second with 12.5 ppg and Maddox is third, averaging 12.3 ppg. Eaddy continues to put up great numbers, with the guard fourth in scoring (7.1 ppg) and first in assists (51).
Brown, who featured four players in double-digit scoring against No. 11/10 Georgia on December 30, fell 82-69 in the consolation game of the Surf `n Slam at San Diego State University. Although Brown held a lead throughout the majority of the first half, the Bears and No. 11/10 Georgia headed into the locker room tied, 40-40. Megan McCahill tried her best to keep Brown in the game, as she went 4-6 from the three-point line in the second game, ending the game with 12 points. Lena McAfee ended with a team-high 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Ashley King-Bischof ended with 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Annesley O'Neal finished with 10 points and Catherine Schaper and Christina Johnson chipped in with six points a piece.
Sarah Hayes leads Brown in scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.8 ppg and 7.3 rpg, while Colleen Kelly is second with 13.3 ppg. and a team-best 70 assists. Glass Cleaners
The Owls have out-rebounded nine of their 13 opponents thus far this season, including at least a 10-board differential in five games. In its last five games, Temple has outrebounded its opponents, 229-154, with a season-high 22 rebound differential (57-35) coming vs. Western Michigan (12/19). TU is outrebounding its opponents by an average of 6.2 boards per game.
