Philadelphia, PA- Senior goalkeeper Tony Pratico had four saves behind a solid defense, but a late goal by Saint Joseph's was enough to top visiting Temple, 1-0, at Finnesey Field. With the loss, the Owls fall to 4-5-1 (0-1 in the A-10), while the Hawks improve to 2-6-1 (1-0 in the A-10).
The first half would prove to be a defensive struggle as the teams combined for one shot on goal. Both teams continued to battle offensively down the stretch providing a combined six shots on goal in the second half.
The game was scoreless until the 82nd minute when Patrick Duddy gave St. Joe's what would prove to be the game's only goal off of a stolen pass that turned into a breakaway on Pratico. The final eight minutes provided the Owls with no help as they dropped their first A-10 match of the year.
Hawks goalkeeper Bryan Benedict had two saves to secure the win. Pratico, the reigning Soccer 7 co-Player of the Week, has now allowed only one goal in the last 330 minutes of play.
The Owls will return to Ambler Field to face Richmond, this Friday, at 1:00 p.m.
