Men's Tennis Competes at ITA Regional Championships

PRINCETON, NJ - Senior Zach Tobias advanced to the second round of play to lead the men's tennis at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships at Princeton, NJ over the weekend.
Tobias defeated Patrick Cerutti of St. Joseph's 6-1, 6-1 in the first round of play. He would eventually fall to Cornell's Jonathan Jaklitsch 6-2, 6-1.
Outside of the Tobias victory, it was a tough weekend for the men's tennis team.
Junior Ricardo Velazquez also competed in singles play for the Owls. He fell to Cornell's Joshua Goldstein, 6-3, 6-1 in a consolation match.
In doubles action, the pair of Velazquez and junior Eduardo Saavedra dropped their first round match to St. John's Alex Svetlakov and Artem Vlasenko 8-3.
The Owls next hit the courts on Friday, October 26, when they travel across the city to the University of Pennsylvania for the Penn Classic. Play will take place all weekend ending on Sunday, October 28.
