Women's Basketball Travels To #8/10 Georgia For Friday Night Battle

Athens, GA-The Temple women's basketball team (1-0) will look to stay undefeated when it travels to #8/10 Georgia (3-0) on Friday night. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. The Owls are 1-0 against the SEC powerhouse Lady Bulldogs after topping the then 17th-ranked squad, 69-66 in overtime during the 2005-06 season.
Senior Lady Comfort led three players in double figures with 16 points and eight rebounds as Temple (1-0) overwhelmed the visiting Central Michigan Chippewas (1-1), 83-45, on Monday night. Senior Ashley Morris chipped in with 15 points, eight assists and no turnovers, while newcomer Lindsay Kimmel had 14 points on 4-of-10 shooting from behind the arc.Junior transfer Shanea Cotton led all players with 12 rebounds, including 10 in the first half, and nearly missed a double-double, scoring nine points. Shaqwedia Wallace also had a solid game with five assists and nine points. The Owls dominated the boards, 51-21, and had 22 assists to the Chippewas' eight. TU shot an impressive 66.7% from the field in the second half to finish the game shooting 55%.
Georgia placed six players in double figures as the Lady Bulldogs defeated Georgia Southern 105-66 on Tuesday at Stegeman Coliseum. Senior forward Tasha Humphrey paced the Lady Bulldogs (3-0) with 18 points. Sophomore Christy Marshall added 17 points, while sophomore guard Ashley Houts scored 16, sophomore Lindsey Moss pumped in 15, sophomore Angel Robinson poured in 12 and senior forward Megan Darrah contributed 11. Those six players were a combined 33-of-51 (64.7 percent) from the floor.
Darrah Robinson and freshman guard Brittany Carter had seven rebounds apiece. Humphrey contributed three blocked shots.
Temple Head Coach Dawn Staley and Georgia senior forward Tasha Humphrey shared the gym this summer as player and coach for USA Basketball's Pan American Games Team. The duo won gold for the U.S. for the first time since 1987. Her Time to Shine
Senior Ashley Morris has been waiting a long time to be Temple's starting point guard but her performance in Monday's win against Central Michigan showed everyone that she was well worth the wait. Morris had career-highs of 15 points and had eight assists with no turnovers in 26 minutes of action.
