CHARLOTTE, NC - Senior forward Tom Woollard scored twice to lead host Charlotte to a 2-0 win over visiting Temple in men's soccer action Friday night. The Owls, who fall to 4-9-2 overall and 0-5-1 in Atlantic 10 play, travel to Saint Louis for a Sunday match.
Woollard put the 49ers on the board early, scoring his sixth goal of the season in the 17th minute with a bicycle kick and flick off a pass from freshman midfielder Will Shull. Twenty minutes later, Woollard tallied his second goal of the night from a corner kick by sophomore forward Adam Gross and pass from junior forward Chris Salvaggione.
Late in the second half, three red cards were assessed after a fight broke in Charlotte's offensive third, taking Salvaggione, Mackenson Altidor and Temple goalkeeper Tony Pratico out of the their next contests.
Pratico finished the contest with fives saves while David Martin made three saves in recording the shutout for Charlotte, who improves to 10-5-1, 4-2-1.
