Box Score

ST. LOUIS, MO - Playing without two starters - senior goalkeeper Tony Pratico and junior sweeper Mackenson Altidor, the Temple men's soccer team suffered its worst defeat of the 2007 season, falling to Atlantic 10 power Saint Louis, 5-1, at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

Pratico and Altidor had to sit out the contest as both received red cards in the team's match at Charlotte Friday.

Saint Louis (11-2-3, 7-1-0) jumped out quickly as Kyle Patterson headed home his 10th goal of the season in the eighth minute of play off a cross by Brandon Barklage. Jimmy Holmes made it 2-0 Billikens in the 25th minute, drilling one past Owls' senior keeper Trevor Lyman (three saves) from 10 yards out.

The second half opened badly for Temple as the Owls let in an own goal just two minutes into play as a cross was deflected off a Cherry and White defender past Lyman. Beau Bellomy converted a spectacular diving header to increase the SLU advantage to 4-0 in the 52nd minute.

Senior Mike Minai scored for Temple in the 64th minute. It was the third goal of the season for the Owls' forward.

Scott Wisniewski completed the scoring with a goal in the 79th minute off a rebound of a Tim Ream shot.

The Owls (4-10-2, 0-6-1) will host Rhode Island (2:00 p.m.) and Massachusetts (1:00 p.m.) in their final weekend of the season, Friday and Sunday, at the Ambler Soccer Complex.
