Dawn Staley To Receive the Star Alumna Eddy Award

PHILADELPHIA- The Philadelphia Education Fund will honor Temple Head Women's Basketball Coach Dawn Staley today at its 2007 Eddy Award Reception to be held at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. The three-time Olympic Gold Medalist will receive the Star Alumna Award.
The Eddys recognize the individuals, organizations and businesses that have made an impact on public education in our region. Other honorees include Governor Edward G. Rendell; IBM; Community Organizer Helen Gym; Congreso de Latinos Unidos; and current Philadelphia Scholar Azsherae Gary.
The Philadelphia Education Fund is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of public education for underserved youth throughout the Philadelphia region. For more than two decades, the Ed Fund has been working in partnership with school districts, universities, non-profit organizations and businesses to initiate and implement innovative educational programs, improve teacher quality, engage the community in school reform and conduct research.
