Dupont Sets School Record In Winning Pentathlon At Bucknell

LEWISBURG, PA - Junior Devon DuPont had quite a performance at the Bison Opener on Saturday at Bucknell. Dupont set a new school record in the pentathlon, winning the event with 3,590 points, and met ECAC standards in the long jump (18-7) and pentathlon (3,590). The previous school record in the indoor pentathlon was set by Venita McDavis in 1981 (3,290).
Dupont won the 60m hurdles (9.1), high jump (5-4), long jump (18-7), and the 800m (2:27.4) on her way to the pentathlon victory.
On the men's side, sophomore Alex Schiavi finished second in the heptathlon. Schiavi compiled 4,409 points and won the shot put (38-5 1/2), high jump (6-1) and 1,000m (2:50.08) to place second in the heptathlon.
Two more competitors, Maxim Chichkin and Brian Smith competed in the men's pole vault. Chichkin cleared 13-3 while Smith did not register a height.
Temple will officially open the indoor season by spitting its squads at the Jack Pyrah Invitational on Friday and the Princeton Invitational on Saturday.
