PHILADELPHIA-Temple will look to bounce back from its tough loss on Saturday when it host Kent State on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. This is the first meeting for the Owls (3-5) and the Golden Flashes (1-5).

Ashley Morris was a one-woman scoring machine, netting a career-high 28 points, nearly half of her squad's total, but it was not enough, as Temple dropped a close 57-52 decision to NC State on Saturday. Morris, who finished 11-for-28 from the field, had 17 of Temple's 25 points at halftime. Down just one point (53-52) with just 30 seconds remaining, Temple tried desperately to take the lead but two straight failed three-point attempts by Morris and Lindsay Kimmel allowed the Wolfpack to earn its sixth straight victory. Lady Comfort did an admirable job on the boards, grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds to help the Owls out-rebound the Wolfpack, 35-26. The Owls shot a dismal 35.3% from the field, however, Shenita Landry and LaKeisha Eaddy chipped in with nine points a piece and Eaddy added team-highs of four steals and four assists.

Morris leads Temple in scoring and assists, averaging 17.8 ppg and dishing 24 assists. She also leads Temple in three-point shooting, making 35.7% of her attempts. Comfort is averaging a double-double with 10 rpg, and 11 ppg. LaKeisha Eaddy has a team-high 14 steals. Comfort and Landry are tied for the team lead in blocks with eight.

Despite coming back from as many as 15 points down, Kent State came up short for the fifth time this season as Vermont defeated the Golden Flashes 63-53 Saturday afternoon (Dec. 1). Anna Kowalska scored a game-high 21 points and Samantha Scull added seven points and a game-high nine rebounds. Stephanie Gibson also scored seven. The Flashes shot a respectable 44.9 percent from the field, but connected on just 2-of-12 three-point attempts.

Kowalska is the lone Kent State player in double figures, averaging 16.8 ppg. She is also the team's top rebounder, grabbing 8.3 rpg. Stephanie Gibson leads the squad in assists (24) and steals (14).

Happy Birthday Temple!
The Liacouras Center celebrates its 10th anniversary this week. The Apollo, as it was originally called, opened its doors on December 9, 1997, when the then #17 men's basketball team defeated #18 Fresno State. The women's team hosted Villanova in its inagural game on December 13, 1997 and are 83-45 all-time in the building.

Player of the Week
Ashley Morris was selected Big Five Player of the Week for the week ending December 2. Morris averaged 20.5 ppg in two games, making 40% of her shots. In Nov. 28's win over Ball State, she scored a game-high 13 points, including a 3-of-8 performance from long range. In Saturday's loss to NC State, Morris netted a career-high 28 points, nearly half of TU's 52 total points. In the first half, she had 17 of Temple's 25 points.
