Women's Basketball Travels to #3 Maryland Sunday at 2 p.m.

College Park, Md.- Temple (4-5) hopes that the fourth-time will be the charm when it travels to #3 Maryland (12-1) on Sunday at 2 p.m. This is the fourth Top 10 opponent that the Owls have faced this season, falling earlier to #8 Georgia, #9 Duke and #4 Stanford. The game, held at the Terps' Comast Center, can be heard live on WPHT The Big Talker 1210 AM.
Four Owls netted in double figures, led by senior Candice Borrows' career-high 12 points, all from long range, as Temple breezed by Kent State, 74-34, on Wednesday night. Borrows' four treys were also a career high. Senior Lady Comfort, senior Ashley Morris, and junior Shanea Cotton added 11 points each. Cotton added 10 rebounds for her first career double-double performance. Shenita Landry grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds. Kent State opened the game with the first three points, but that was the only lead the Golden Flashes would get. Starting with a three-pointer from Morris, Temple opened its scoring with a 9-0 run. Allowing just four KSU points, TU added a 14-0 run to go ahead by 16 points, 23-7 with 9:39 remaining in the first half. The Owls held KSU scoreless for 10-and-a-half minutes while improving its lead. TU held a 21-point edge at intermission, 33-12. Morris leads Temple in scoring and assists, averaging 17 ppg and dishing 30 assists. She also leads Temple in three-point shooting, making 37.7% of her attempts. Comfort is averaging nearly a double-double with 9.4 rpg, and 11 ppg. LaKeisha Eaddy has a team-high 15 steals. Landry is tops in blocks with 10. Maryland is coming off of a tough stretch, in which it has already played three games in the last six days. Marissa Coleman had 22 points and 12 rebounds, and four other players scored in double figures as Maryland rolled over Northern Iowa, 91-37, on Friday night. Laura Harper had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Terrapins, who scored the game's first 13 points, then used an 18-0 run to go up 37-9 with 5:57 left in the first half. Up 48-22 at halftime, Maryland used 10 straight points to increase the margin to 36. With eight minutes left, Maryland led 80-28.Kristi Toliver leads four players in double figures with 17.7 ppg, while Coleman is second with 16.1 ppg and a team-high 8.2 rpg. Harper and Crystal Langhorne are chipping in with 13.2 and 12.1 ppg, respectively. Toliver is also tops in assists (100) and three point-shooting, making nearly 50% of her attempts. Series Record
This is the 13th meeting between the Temple Owls and the Maryland Terrapins. Maryland leads the series, 11-1 and won the last meeting, 77-66, on December 10, 2006 as the #1 team in the nation. USA, USA, USA!!!
Temple Head Coach Dawn Staley and Maryland junior forward Marissa Coleman shared the gym this summer as player and coach for USA Basketball's Pan American Games Team. The duo won gold for the U.S. for the first time since 1987.
