Women's Indoor Track Finishes Eighth at A-10s

KINGSTON, RI - Temple won the 4x400 relay and freshman Brittney McRae was second in the 55m hurdles with an ECAC-qualifying time of 8.18 and was fourth in the long jump (17-8 3/4) as the Owls finished eighth at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track Championship at Rhode Island's Mackal Fieldhouse on Saturday. Freshman Melissa Gale was third in the pole vault (10-10). Charlotte won its second straight team title, beating Richmond, 167-110.
The 4x400 relay was comprised of McRae, sophomore Devon DuPont, junior Shanice DePass, and sophomore Carlleen Allison and ran a time of 3:56.02. Sophomore Amanda Cole was fourth in the shot put (39-10 1/2) and sixth in the weight throw (48-0 1/2). Junior Kimberlyn Hill finished sixth in the triple jump (36-7).
49er senior Shareese Woods was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer for the second-straight year, while head coach Bob Olesen received Coach of the Year honors. Fordham senior Kerstin Greene took home Most Outstanding Field Performer honors, while Richmond's Amy Van Alstine garnered Most Outstanding Rookie recognition.
The 49ers totaled 167 points, followed by Richmond (110), the host Rams (86), La Salle (71) and Duquesne (70) to round out the top-five teams in the 12-squad field.
