PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's tennis team returned to their winning ways Sunday night defeating Rhode Island, 5-1, at the Cheltenham Tennis Club. The Owls improve to 4-5 on the season.

Sophomore Nathan Spunda was once again victorious at the first singles position, defeating Henrik Almstrom, 6-1, 6-4. Senior captain Daniel Davis returned to play for the Owls, downing Andrew Costin, 6-4, 6-4 at the second spot. Junior Zach Tobias and freshman Pavlos Stephanides won their matches at third and fourth singles, respectively.

The Owls (4-5) blanked the Rams in doubles play.

"Overall, it was a great team effort", said Coach Steve Mauro. "After what happened against Richmond yesterday, everyone knew they had to step it up to get the job done."

Temple will resume action on Saturday, February 24 against NJIT. The contest will be held at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Club (4:00 p.m.).
