Temple Finishes Third in Quad-Meet at Maryland

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's gymnastics team finished third behind Maryland (194.700) and New Hampshire (193.525) on Friday night in College Park, MD. The Cherry and White (191.200) placed in front of last place James Madison (187.450) for the four-team meet.
Senior co-captains Sarah Liebowitz and Jillian Kornett shared the all-around limelight. Liebowitz, recently added to first-year head coach Aaron Murphy's all-around line-up posted a 37.400 while Kornett, a seasoned veteran in all events, tallied a 37.300.
The Cherry and White vault score of 47.925 was led by freshman standout Tiffany Shepherd's eighth place score of 9.675. Additionally, Kornett finished ninth (9.650) while senior Noelle Moore placed in a tie for 10th with a 9.625.
The Owls' uneven parallel bars score of 46.950 was spear-headed by two 11th-place finishes from junior Nicole Catrambone (9.600) and sophomore Nikki Berrian (9.600). Sophomore Natasha Crawford placed 13th with a 9.500.
With the balance beam, an often precarious event, Moore led all Temple competitors with a fifth-ranked score of 9.775 while sophomore specialist Winter Sneed finished in a tie for 10th with a 9.725.
Lastly, in the floor exercise, where the Cherry and White scored their evening's highest results, Moore finished in a tie for third (9.800) while Sneed placed in a tie for fifth (9.750). Liebowitz rounded out the Owls' floor exercise routine with a seventh place.
The Cherry and White return to the friendly-confines of McGonigle Hall on Saturday, March 3 for a dual-meet with Rhode Island.
