Temple University Volleyball Adds Three to 2007 Line-Up

PHILADELPHIA - Three high school seniors have signed on to join the Temple University volleyball squad for the 2007 season. Ariel Pierre (Bellerose, NY/St. Francis Prep), Cayleigh Ashman (Downington, PA/Bishop Shanahan) and Anissa Whitney (Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) have all signed National Letters of Intent.
Ariel Pierre, a four-year letter winner and two-year captain of the St. Francis Prep team, was named to the All-Queens Team three times, earning Player of the Year honors her last two seasons. She led her team to both an undefeated regular season and a victory in the Queens Championship her senior year.
Cayleigh Ashman, a four-year letter winner at Bishop Shanahan, is coming off a senior season in which she was named Chest-Mont League MVP, All Area Co-MVP and team Co-MVP for Bishop Shanahan. She was also named to the All-Tournament Teams for `Rally in the Valley' and the PIAA State Finals.
Anissa Whitney, a three-year letter winner in both volleyball and basketball, was named to the First Team All-League squad for volleyball her junior and senior years. She was also named to the Second Team All-County and the Third Team All-State squads her final year. Whitney is a member of the National Honor Society.
The Owls finished the 2006 season with an overall record of 16-13 and advanced to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
