PHILADELPHIA- Temple (18-5, 8-0 A-10) hopes to continue its winning ways when it hosts the Richmond Spiders (10-13, 4-4 A-10) on Friday afternoon. The game, which caps off the fifth annual Dawn Staley Day, will tip off at 12 p.m. This is the ninth meeting between the Temple Owls and the Richmond Spiders. Temple leads the series, 5-3. The teams last met on February 12, 2006, when the Spiders upset the Owls, 56-54, in Richmond.

Owls+ Kids = Winning Record
Maybe Temple should consider playing all of its games at noon and in front of thousands of screaming children. The Owls are a perfect 4-0 on Dawn Staley Day, defeating their opponents by an average of 17 points. Dawn Staley Day invites local children to learn about the importance of literacy.

After a slow first half, Temple rebounded to defeat the visiting Dayton Flyers, 68-50, and remain unbeaten in Conference play on Sunday. Kamesha Hairston led three Owls in double figures with 17 points, while freshman Jasmine Stone posted a career-high 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Fatima Maddox chipped in with 10 points. Stone tied her career-high nine points in the first half and added seven rebounds to allow Temple to claw back from an 11-point deficit in the opening stanza. The Owls out-rebounded the Flyers, 48-38, to mark the ninth time this season that Temple has posted at least a 10-board differential over its opponent. LaKeisha Eaddy dished a game-high five assists to go along with five points, while Maddox earned three steals.

Hairston leads Temple in scoring and rebounding, averaging 20.4 ppg and 9.0 rpg. Lady Comfort is second with 13.4 ppg and 7.0 rpg. Maddox is third, averaging 11.8 ppg. Eaddy continues to put up great numbers, with the guard fourth in scoring (6.9 ppg) and first in assists (91).

Richmond fell to No. 11/12 George Washington, 72-53, on Saturday. Richmond clipped GW's lead to five points with 13:31 remaining in the second half on a three-pointer from Erin Hawkins but the Colonials then embarked on a 23-9 run to close out the contest. Johanna McKnight was the lone Spider in double figures, finishing with 10 points on 4-for-10 shooting to go along with two steals.

Christina Campion is tops on the Spider squad, averaging 10.2 ppg, while Nikita Thomas is Richmond's leading rebounder, grabbing 6.0 rpg. Kara Powell has dished 72 assists thus far this season.

Commanding Attention
Freshman Jasmine Stone had quite a weekend, leading TU to two huge wins over Xavier and Dayton. She shot 8-of-9 from the field and averaged 8.5 ppg and 7.5 rpg. In 14 min. vs. Xavier, she had six points and six boards and against Dayton, the rookie posted a career-high 11 points and nine rebounds. For her efforts, Stone was named the A-10's Rookie of the Week.
