Owls Falter in Dual-Meet at Cornell

ITHACA, NY - The Temple women's gymnastics team (9-11), under the direction of first-year head coach Aaron Murphy, dropped a dual-meet competition, 191.750 - 189.125, against Cornell on Saturday.
Senior Noelle Moore finished in a tie for the top spot on the vault (9.750) and in the floor exercise (9.825) while senior co-captain Sarah Liebowitz competed in the all-around for a score of 38.075.
Moore's vault score was complimented by teammate and senior co-captain Jillian Kornett's fourth place finish of 9.575. Junior Desiree Meredith and freshman Monica Zuber each tallied scores of 9.425 as the Cherry and White scored a 47.550 as a team.
The Owls' uneven bars score of 47.175 was led by the matching scores of 9.675, good for third place, from sophomores Natasha Crawford and Christine McNeill. Liebowitz placed fifth with a 9.650.
Temple recorded an event-low score of 46.475 on balance beam while Cornell posted a 48.100. Moore and Crawford each finished in a tie for fifth (9.625) while Liebowitz captured a 9.500.
The Cherry and White floor exercise score of 47.925 was the afternoon's highest. Moore's top finish was followed by a fourth place performance from sophomore Winter Sneed (9.650) and fifth place ranking from Liebowitz (9.600). Sophomore Nikki Berrian turned in a 9.475 while sophomore Caitlin Egan tallied a 9.375.
The Owls will look to rebound on Saturday, March 17 against West Virginia at 1.00 p.m. Following the dual-meet with the Mountaineers, the Cherry and White will begin preparation for the ECAC Championships scheduled for Saturday, March 31 back in Ithaca, NY.
