DAYTON, OH - The Temple University men's tennis team suffered a 5-2 decision at the hands of Dayton Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Nathan Spunda and senior Daniel Davis earned wins at first and second singles, respectively; as the Owls evened their record to 8-8 (2-3 in A-10 play).
In singles action, sophomore Nathan Spunda defeated Tom Murphy, 6-3, 7-5, at the first position. With the victory, Spunda improved his season record to 12-2 at No. 1 singles. Senior Daniel Davis beat James O'Connell, 7-5, 6-1, at the second spot. Davis now holds an overall record of 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
In doubles action, Daniel Davis and Eduardo Saavedra paired up for an 8-6 win at the No. 3 spot. However, the pairs of Tobias/Stephanides and Gegenheimer/Spunda came up short in hard-fought battles as Dayton secured the doubles point.
The Owls (8-8) remain on the road, playing at Xavier today (10:00 a.m.).
