Hairston Named 2007 Kodak/WBCA All-America Team Finalist

PHILADELPHIA- Temple University senior Kamesha Hairston was named a finalist for the 2007 Kodak/WBCA All-America Basketball Team, as announced today by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). The 52 finalists, who are voted upon by WBCA-member coaches in each of the eight WBCA geographical regions, are now in the running for selection to the 10-member Kodak/WBCA All-America Team.
The 2007 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, Hairston led Temple in scoring (19.3) and rebounding (8.7) throughout the season and was consistently ranked in the Top 20 in the nation in scoring. She was also named to the A-10 First Team and All-Defensive Team, as well as the A-10 All-Tournament Team.
Hairston finished the regular season ranked first in the Atlantic 10 in scoring and third in rebounding while leading her team to a first round bye in the 2007 A-10 Championship. The senior from Toledo, OH, finished the regular season tied with a league-leading 11 double-doubles en route to earning five A-10 Player of the Week honors. She led the Owls to their fourth straight 20-win season with a 24-7 mark and has helped Temple win 20 of its last 23 games. A two-time All-Conference honoree, Hairston was the A-10's Most Improved Player in 2005.
Joining Hairston as Region 1 finalists are Charel Allen (Notre Dame), Essence Carson (Rutgers), Tina Charles (Connecticut), Jessica Dickson (South Florida), Angela McCoughtry (Louisville), Renee Montgomery (Connecticut), Kia Vaughn (Rutgers) and Marcedes Walker (Pittsburgh).
The All-America team will be announced at the Kodak/WBCA All-America Team Press Conference at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center on March 31, 2007 at 9:45 a.m.
