Heins, Maher Selected In Territorial Round of MISL Draft

PHILADELPHIA - Temple seniors Matt Maher and Ryan Heins were selected Territorial Round of the Major Indoor Soccer League. Maher was selected with the second overall pick by New Jersey, one of two expansion team for the 2007-08 season. Heins was selected with the fifth overall pick by the Philadelphia KiXX where he joins former Temple standouts Tony Donatelli, Patrick Hannigan and Steven Wacker. The two Owls were the only Philadelphia Soccer 7 players selected in the MISL Draft.

A Glen Creek, N.J. native (Middle Township), Maher capped a stellar collegiate career by leading the Owls in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points. The First Team All-Soccer 7 selection completed his career at Temple with nine goals and six assists for 24.

Heins, a product of Shawnee High in Medford, N.J., earned First Team All-Soccer 7 and Second Team All-Atlantic 10 Conference as a senior in 2006. The midfielder led the Owls in assists (2), shots (33) and shots on goal (13) while ranking fourth on the squad in scoring with four points. He compiled eight goals and 11 assists for 27 career points.
