Cole Betters School Record As Owls Finish Fifth At Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - Sophomore Amanda Cole bettered her own school record in the hammer throw with a distance of 139-9 to lead the Temple women's track team to a fifth place finish at the Rider Invitational on Saturday. Cole was fifth in the event and also finished sixth in the discus.
Junior Kimberlyn Hill won two events, the long jump (15-9) and the triple jump (35-8 1/2), while two more Owls also captured individual titles. Junior Cheryl Anscombe won the 100m (12.62) and sophomore Carlleen Allison won the 400m (57.88).
Other strong showings were turned in by junior Shanice DePass, who was second in the 800m (2:19.00), and freshman Tashae Croxton, who was third in the 400m hurdles (1:06.52).
Freshman Melissa Gale tied a season-best by finishing third in the pole vault (10-11 3/4). The 4x400 relay placed second in a time of 3:57.65.
Sacred Heart won the women's team title with 163 points, edging Delaware (162), Rider (89), La Salle (88), Temple (86), Loyola (MD) (20) and Saint Peter's (4).
Temple will head to Princeton on Friday for the Larry Ellis Invitational.
