Cole Shatters School Record In Hammer Throw At Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, MD - Sophomore Amanda Cole set a new school record in the hammer throw (134-3) as Temple competed at the unscored Terrapin Invitational, hosted by Maryland on Saturday. Cole finished 11th in the event and broke her own school record, set last year (121-8). She also finished 12th in the discus (113-8) and 13th in the shot put (37-2 1/2).
Freshman Melissa Gale was fifth in the pole vault with a season and A-10 best mark of 10-6. The only other individual top 10 finish was junior Kimberlyn Hill, who was fifth in the triple jump (36-10 1/4). The 4x100 relay (7th, 49.22) and 4x400 relay (3:57.67, 4th) also placed high.
Junior Cheryl Anscombe was 11th in the 200m (25.71), freshman Jassele Cruz was 11th in the 400m hurdles (1:06.81) and sophomore Devon DuPont was 12th in the 100m hurdles (15.42).
The Owls will split its squads at the Duke and Delaware Invitationals next weekend.
