Hairston, Eaddy and Comfort Garner Individual Big Five Honors

PHILADELPHIA- Senior forward Kamesha Hairston capped off her senior season with the Philadelphia Big Five's Player of the Year award, after leading Temple to its third straight Big Five crown. Junior center Lady Comfort was voted the Big Five's Most Improved Player, while freshman guard LaKeisha Eaddy was the Rookie of the Year. The Owls were also selected the Team of the Year for the third straight season.
An Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American honoree, Hairston led Temple in scoring (18.9), rebounding (8.6) and steals (61) throughout the season and was consistently ranked in the Top 20 in the nation in scoring. The Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, she was named to the A-10 First Team and All-Defensive Team, as well as the A-10 All-Tournament Team. Hairston also garnered WBCA/Kodak Regional All-American distinction.
Hailing from Pensacola, FL, Comfort returned after a solid sophomore campaign of averaging 7.4 points and 6.2 rebounds in 32 games to be the second leading scorer for Temple with a 12.7 points per game average. She was also second on the team in rebounds with 6.8 boards per game. The junior posted a career-high of 26 points versus Rhode Island (1/26), grabbed a career-high tying 13 rebounds on three different occasions and was the A-10's Most Improved Player.
Eaddy averaged 6.7 ppg and 2.7 rpg in 33 starts for the Owls. After becoming the first freshman to start in the Staley era, the Columbia, Md. native led Temple in assists (116) and finished third in the A-10 in helpers and assist to turnover ratio (1.60). Known mostly for her defensive skills, Eaddy also proved that she can score, leading the Owls to a win over Villanova with a career-high 20 points and five assists.
Hairston and Comfort garnered First Team All-Big Five honors while senior guard Fatima Maddox was a member of the Big Five Second Team. Maddox finished third on the team in scoring with 12.0 ppg. Candice Borrows was on the Big Five All-Academic Team for the second straight season, after earning a 3.86 GPA as an accounting major.
