Owls Qualify For USAG National Competition

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's gymnastics team, under the direction of first-year head coach Aaron Murphy, have qualified for the USAG Nationals being held in Seattle, Wash. from Thursday, April 19 - Saturday, April 21. The Owls advanced due to a regional qualifying score of 189.580.
The Cherry and White are coming off a fifth place finish at the ECAC conference championships at Cornell. Leading the Temple attack was sophomore Christine McNeill's (9.625) fourth place finish on the uneven parallel bars. Joining McNeill on the event's medal stand was senior co-captain Sarah Liebowitz (9.575) following a sixth place finish.
Senior co-captain Jillian Kornett finished in fifth place on the vault (9.725) while senior Noelle Moore, named the conference's Senior-Athlete of the Year, ranked fifth and sixth in the floor exercise (9.700) and balance beam (9.675), respectively.
Joining the Owls in the USAG Nationals field will be first-seeded Towson (193.720), Texas (192.110), Rutgers (191.770), Seattle Pacific (191.680), Louisiana Centenary (190.245) Cornell (189.940) and William & Mary (188.490).
