Paul Amess Named Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area

PHILADELPHIA - Temple junior golfer Paul Amess has been named to the 2007 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Golf Team. The London, England native boasts a 3.87 grade point average as a finance major.
Amess, who transferred to Temple after competing two seasons at Troy, played 21 rounds during the 2006-07 campaign, posting a 75.7 stroke average. He carded a season low round of 69 at The McLaughlin and was the team's top finisher in two spring events. The left-hander finished tied for 26th at the Treasure Coast Classic, 31st at the Navy Invitational, tied for 22nd at the Mount Saint Mary's Invitational and tied for 24th at the A-10 Championships.
Amess is joined on this year's squad by Villanova's Andrew Alexander, Cabrini's Tim Harner, La Salle's John Lorenzo, Penn's Nick Ryder and Swarthmore's Eric Zwick. In order to be eligible for the team, a player must be of sophomore athletic standing, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or key reserve. Ballots for the Inquirer Academic All-Area Teams are compiled and voted upon by the Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association.
