CHARLOTTE, NC - Freshman Melissa Gale won the pole vault (10-11 3/4) to lead the Temple women's track team to a sixth place finish at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship, held this weekend at Charlotte. Numerous Owls met ECAC qualifying standards, including freshman Brittney McRae, who was second in the 100m hurdles (14.31).

Sophomore Amanda Cole also met ECAC standards and improved her school record in the hammer throw by finishing fourth with a distance of 164-2. Classmate Devon DuPont was second in the heptathlon with 4552 points, which also reached ECAC standards.

Other ECAC qualifying performances were turned in by junior Kimberlyn Hill, who was fifth in the triple jump (38-5), and sophomore Carlleen Allison, who placed fourth in the 400m (56.42).

Sophomore Tashae Croxton was third in the 400m hurdles (1:04.22) and junior Shanice DePass was seventh in the 800m (2:15.77).

Courtney Patterson (11.51) and Shareese Woods (52.80) topped their own Championship records in the 200m and 400m dashes, respectively, to lead Charlotte to its second consecutive A-10 women's title. Richmond placed second with 121.5 points, followed by Rhode Island (121), Fordham (72), La Salle (68), Temple (62), Dayton (49.5), Saint Joseph's (48.5), Duquesne (46.5), Massachusetts (46), Xavier (22) and Saint Louis (six).

Several Owls will head to Princeton next weekend for ECACs.
