Golf In Fourth Place After Day One Of Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, PA - Senior Paul Amess carded a pair of 71s to lead the Temple golf team to a fourth place showing after day one of the Bucknell Invitational at the Bucknell Golf Club on Friday. Amess is in third place out of 84 golfers after firing a 71-71-142 (+2) and is three shots off the lead. The Owls, under the direction of first-year head coach Brian Quinn, will finish the tournament with 18 holes on Saturday.
Junior Eric Plisko recorded a 73-73=146 (+6) to finish in 14th place and was followed by freshman Andrew Mason (71-76=147) in 18th place. Plisko's 73s marked a career-low at Temple. Senior Kevin Busteed (77-76=153, T-40th) and junior Adam Pifer (75-79=154, T-50th) rounded out the top five for TU.
Temple shot a 290 (+10) during the morning round and followed with a 296 (+16) to finish the day with a score of 586, 19 shots off the pace of host Bucknell (279-286-565). The Owls' first round score of 290 was the lowest since carding a 286 in the first tournament of last spring (Treasure Coast Classic). Rider and Bucknell (Blue) are tied for second and two shots ahead of the Cherry and White.
Bucknell's Stuart Lindgren was the leader after 36 holes after shooting 69-70=139 (-1) at the par 70, 6,310 course. He is the only competitor under par.
