Owls Finish Second At Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, PA - Freshman Andrew Mason carded a one-over 71 and three teammates shot 73s as the Temple golf team marked its best finish since April 23, 2006 in placing second at the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday at Bucknell Golf Club. The three-round score of 876 was nine shots behind the host Bison.
Senior Paul Amess shot a 73 on Saturday to finish tied for fifth overall with a 71-71-73=215. Mason, who performed admirably in his first collegiate tournament, posted the third best score of the day (71) to tie for eighth overall (71-76-71-218).
Junior Eric Plisko (73-73-73=219) was 11th and classmate Adam Pifer (T-30th, 75-79-73=227) and Kevin Busteed (T-33rd, 77-76-75=228) rounded out the Owls' lineup.
The second place showing by the Cherry and White was the best since also finishing as the runner-up at the Scotty Duncan Memorial on April 23, 2006. TU has not won a tournament since taking the Scotty Duncan during the spring of 2005.
Bucknell won the event with a 54-hole score of 867 and the Bison's Stuart Lindgren was the medalist with a final score of 69-70-72=211. He was one shot ahead of Rider's Tyler Brewington and four ahead of Amess.
First-year coach Brian Quinn leads his team to The McLaughlin Invitational on Friday at Bethpage Red GC.
