Owls Finish 11th At The McLaughlin

FARMINGDALE, NY - Sophomore Eric Plisko fired a three-round score of 73-70-72=215 (+5) to lead Temple to a 11th place finish at The McLaughlin at Bethpage Red Golf Course this weekend. Plisko tied for 27th in the field of 93 golfers and marks the first time in his young career that he has led TU in a tournament.
Temple carded a 295-289-292=876 (+36) over the two-day tournament. Senior Paul Amess tied for 37th with a score of 72-74-72=218 (+8) while redshirt freshman Sasha Bozic, playing in his first collegiate tournament, tied for 61st (78-72-74=224).
Junior Adam Pifer (73-73-80=226, T-69th) and freshman Andrew Mason (77-76-74=227, T-72nd) rounded out the Owls top five.
West Florida's Kyle Scott had three rounds in the 60s to win the individual title by five strokes with a 67-65-68=200 (-10). Eight players finished below par for the tournament.
Division II power West Florida won the team title, edging host St. John's by two strokes. UWF had a three-round score of 282-274-274=830 (-10) and placed three golfers in the top ten. The Red Storm had a 278-278-276=832 (-8) to finish second and Johnson and Wales was third (283-285-281=849, +9) in the 18-team field.
The Cherry and White are off next weekend before traveling to the Scotty Duncan Memorial on October 6-7 in Wilmington, DE.
