Zhang's Big Net Play Helps Volleyball To 3-0 Win At Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Sophomore Yun Yi Zhang had a huge day at the net, posting a match-high 20 kills, with just two errors, to help the Temple Owls to a 3-0 win at Charlotte (9-8, 1-3 A-10) on Sunday afternoon. The Cherry and White end their three-game losing streak and return home to Philadelphia with a 5-13 overall record and a 1-1 mark in Atlantic 10 play.

Temple started strong, earning a 30-21 victory in game one. The 49ers fought hard in game two but were unable to stop the Owls, who took the set, 31-29. TU closed out the match with a 30-19 win to earn its first shutout in nearly two months.

Sun Ying Ling had 26 digs to lead the defensive charge, while Yue Liu helped out on offense with 13 kills. Ariel Pierre contributed a match-high 45 assists.

Temple returns home this weekend after playing 13 road matches to face #16 Dayton and A-10 power Xavier on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
