PHILADELPHIA-The Temple women's basketball team will look for its second straight win when it hosts the 13th-ranked George Washington Colonials on Saturday at 2 p.m. The game can be heard live on WPHT The Big Talker 1210 AM with Joe Heyer and Kristen Foley calling all of the action.
Series Record
This is the 47th meeting between the Temple Owls and the George Washington Colonials, with GW leading the series, 28-18. GW won the last meeting, 56-53, on February 25, 2007.
Temple snapped a four-game losing streak with a 73-62 win over St. Bonaventure on Tuesday. Lindsay Kimmel and LaKeisha Eaddy led the Owls with 13 points each. Shenita Landry followed with 12 points, including a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. The Owls shot a Liacouras Center record 69.6 percent (16-23) in the first half. [The former record was 65.2 vs. Georgia Tech, Nov. 20, 2006.] After leading for most of the game, Temple nearly lost its advantage when the Bonnies went on a 10-0 run to come within three, 47-44. In the final five minutes of play, TU went 9-of-10 from the line to hang onto the 11-point win.
Ashley Morris leads Temple in scoring and assists, averaging 14.1 ppg and dishing 63 assists. Lady Comfort is averaging 8.5 ppg and a team-high 8.1 rpg. Eaddy has a team-high 26 steals, while Landry is tops in blocks (19).

Beck scored on a one-handed floater to give GW a 44-43 lead with 1:24 left. After a turnover by Rhode Island, Sarah-Jo Lawrence hit a jump shot but the Rams countered with a driving layup by Crystal Bellinger that pulled her team within 46-45 with 21.2 seconds left. Beck clinched the victory hitting two free throws with 10.9 seconds left. George Washington has won nine games in a row and 18 consecutive regular-season conference games dating back to the 2005-06 season.
Jessica Adair leads four Colonials in double figures with 16.1 ppg, while Lawrence is second (13.8 ppg) and Beck is third (12.9 ppg). Antelia Parrish rounds out the double-figure scoring with 11.3 ppg and a team-high 8.3 rpg. Beck has dished a team-high 102 assists.
Class of Titans
Today's game pits two of the perennial Conference heavyweights against one another for what has certainly been a battle in the past. Last year, the teams, both undefeated in the A-10, met in the final game of the regular season to determine the Conference Tournament's #1 seed. The Colonials edged the Owls, 56-53, to avenge their previous loss in the Championship game of the 2005-06 Atlantic 10 Tournament.
Program on the Rise
With Nov. 24's win over #20/22 Purdue, the Owls got their 10th win all-time over a Top 25 opponent. Temple is 10-79 all-time against ranked opponents and 1-38 against teams ranked in the Top 10. The last time the Owls defeated an opponent ranked in the Top 10 was on January 19, 2006, when they topped then #9 Rutgers, 48-47.
