Men's Tennis Dominates Saint Francis in Home Opener

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple men's tennis team used their first home match of the season to pick up their first victory of the year, as the Owls easily handled Saint Francis (NY) 6-1 from the Cheltenham Tennis Courts.
"It was good win for us after a tough opening weekend," said assistant coach Joe Mirabile.
The Owls (1-4) only dropped #1 singles, as SFC's Jindrich Chaloupka defeated sophomore Pavlos Stephanides 7-5, 6-1 . The rest of the day belonged to the Owls. Junior Ricardo Velazquez defeated Elan Evans 6-0, 6-1. Junior Eduardo Saavedra won his match 6-0, 6-0. Senior Zach Tobias defeated Bratislav Radosavljevic 6-0, 6-0 and freshmen Andrew Choi beat Vihren Todorov 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles play, Saavedra and Velazquez bested the pair of Chaloupka/Evans 8-5, while Choi and Tobais defeated Radosavljevic/Fordham for another Owl victory.
The Owls are back in action next Saturday when they travel to Rhode Island. Play is scheduled to being at 7:30 p.m.
