ST. BONAVENTURE, NY - Junior midfielder Mike Puppolo's first goal of the season proved to be the gamewinner for the Temple Owls in Sunday afternoon's match at St. Bonaventure as the Owls posted a 1-0 win. The Cherry and White improve to 6-3-2 (2-0-0 in Atlantic 10 play) while the Bonnies fall to 2-3-4 (0-1-1).
The game remained tied until the 45th minute when the Owls main distributor, junior J.T. Noone found the foot of Puppolo, who beat Bonnies' keeper David Flynn on a low blast. Noone's assist is his team-leading seventh of the season.
Owls' keeper Bret Mollon made one save on the day, with the defense once again providing strong play. Mollon now has five shutouts on the season, bringing his save total to 36.
The Cherry and White are unbeaten in their last six contests, and next travel to George Washington for a Friday, October 17 match. The Bonnies were unbeaten at home (2-0-2) going into Sunday's contest.
