Men's Tennis Wraps Up Fall Season At ITAs

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Temple men's tennis team finished up a successful fall campaign this weekend at the ITA Championships at Yale. Through Saturday, the Owls posted a 4-2 record in singles and doubles action, with freshman Filip Rams reaching the third round of the consolation bracket.
Seniors Ricardo Velazquez and Eduardo Saavedra won their doubles match over Erickson and Chiudjeda of NJIT, 8-5 to open main bracket play. In singles, junior Nathan Spunda fell to George Washington's Yan Levinski, 7-5, 3-2, retired.
In the consolation singles bracket, Rams reached the third round with a pair of victories. He opened with a victory over Brown's Charlie Posner, 6-1, 6-3 and then beat Stony Brook's Llan Shvarz, 6-4, 2-6, 10-8.
Also in consolation play, Velazquez beat Villanova's Brian Maher, 2-6, 6-3, 10-6 before falling to Brown's Kendrick Au, 6-2, 6-3.
