Temple Set To Host Big 5 Golf Invitational

PHILADELPHIA - Temple will host the annual Big 5 Golf Invitational this weekend at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown, PA. The 2008 field includes 15 teams from eight different conferences and features all six Division I universities in Philadelphia (Drexel, La Salle, Penn, Saint Joseph's, Temple and Villanova).
Tee times begin at 8 AM on Saturday and Sunday on the Wissahickon Course. Live scoring will be available beginning on the back nine on Sunday on owlsports.com and golfstatresults.com.
In addition to the six Philadelphia teams, the field includes Binghamton, Boston College, Cornell, Florida Gulf Coast, Harvard, Lafayette, Lehigh, Seton Hall and William and Mary.
Cornell won the 2007 team title by four strokes over Seton Hall, Princeton and Boston College. Penn was the top city finisher and won the Big 5 City Championship. J.J. Amoruso of George Mason won the event with an even-par 71-71=142 last fall.
