Howell captured first place in the epee to lead the Owls at the 29th Annual Temple Open.
She topped a field that included 96 fencers from many of the nation's elite squads.
The strong start to the season for Howell comes after being honored as the Temple Female Student-Athlete of the Year and being named an NCAA All-American last season.
