PHILADELPHIA-The women's basketball team (3-2) continues its arduous homestand Wednesday, when it hosts the Dartmouth Big Green (1-4) in the first part of a men's and women's double-header. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. and can be watched live via OwlAccess. This is the second meeting between Temple and Dartmouth, with Temple leading the series, 1-0. The Owls took the last meeting, 76-65, on January 29, 1983.

Scouting the Owls
Temple held an 11-point lead over # 15/11 Rutgers at halftime, but the Owls couldn't hang on for the upset, falling by just four, 64-60 on Monday night. Temple opened the game with a 7-1 run with Shanea Cotton scoring all seven Owl points. TU took advantage of Rutgers' poor shooting (31 %) and turnovers (12) with its tenacious defense, building its lead over the nationally ranked opponent to 15 points before intermission. Cotton finished the stanza with 11 points. The senior led the Owls with a career-high 18 points. Shenita Landry followed with 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds. LaKeisha Eaddy and Lindsay Kimmel finished with nine points each.

Cotton leads three Owls in double figures with 13.8 ppg. Landry is averaging a double-double of 13.2 ppg and 10.0 rpg, while Eaddy is chipping in with 13.0 ppg and 25 assists and 11 steals.

Scouting the Big Green
Dartmouth used a 26-9 run in the last 12 minutes for a comeback win at Delaware on Nov. 28, 59-49. The Big Green did not take a lead until 4:51 left in the game when Meghan McFee hit a pair of free-throws to make it 46-45. Delaware would score just four more points in the game as the Big Green pulled away to take its first win of the season. Dartmouth had three players in double-figures led by Koren Schram with 17 points, four assists and three steals. Betsy Williams added 13 points and Darcy Rose posted 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Schram leads three players in double figures with 13.6 ppg, while Brittany Smith has 10.6 ppg and a team-high 8.2 ppg. Williams is averaging 10.2 ppg.

Lane Presence
Senior Shanea Cotton has demonstrated quite a lane presence over the last few games, moving into the Owl's top scoring spot. In Nov. 17th's game at #21/20 Auburn, she had 17 points, six rebounds, two steals and one block. The senior also had a huge performance in the game against Hampton (11/29), notching a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds to go along with four blocks and two steals. In the game vs.#15 Rutgers, Cotton notched a career-high 18 points, including 11 in the first half, to pace the Owls.

Big Green Owl
Temple Associate Athletic Director Sherryta Freeman is quite familiar with the Big Green women's basketball team and its Coach Chris Wieglus. Freeman starred for Dartmouth from 1997-2001, leading the squad to two NCAA Tournaments. She later served as the school's assistant AD for compliance.

America's Next Top Coach
In just her first season as a head coach, Tonya Cardoza is a strong candidate for the WBCA's Maggie Dixon Award. The award, which is named for former Army coach Maggie Dixon who passed away after leading her Black Knights to an unforgettable season, is given to a rookie Division I coach who not only leads his or her team to success on the court but also enrichs the lives of those around them.
