The Temple men's tennis team was able to pull off a 4-3 victory on Friday night against the visiting Dayton Flyers despite losing the No. 1, 2 and 3 singles matches. With the win the Owls improve their record to 3-6 overall.
Temple head coach Steve Mauro was very pleased with the win, "Doubles was a hard-fought win with a very strong effort by Andrew Choi and Lawrence Carpio." Despite winning doubles Temple still needed wins in the 4, 5, and 6 slots in singles competition in order to win the match. Pavlos Stephanides lost his first set but rallied back taking the next two to win his match. They got the other two key wins with Zach Tobias and Andrew Choi giving great performances for Temple and Coach Mauro hailed their recent efforts, "Tobias and Choi have been working very hard in practice and it has paid off today with two good wins."
Temple hopes to continue its winning ways against nationally ranked George Washington tonight at the Cheltenham Tennis Courts with an 8 PM start time.
