Cincinnati, Ohio- The Temple women's basketball team (14-10, 7-1 A-10) goes into battle at Xavier (16-6, 6-1 A-10) Saturday looking to avenge a loss that knocked it out of the 2007 Atlantic 10 Tournament.  The Owls, who are currently on a seven-game winning streak, are tied atop the A-10 standings with the Musketeers, who edged TU, 54-53, in last season's Conference semi-final.  Tip off is set for 6 p.m. at XU's Cintas Center.

Series Record
This is the 17th meeting between the Temple Owls and the Xavier Musketeers. The series is tied at eight.  The teams last played on March 4, 2007, when Xavier narrowly defeated the Owls, 54-53, in the semi-final round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

Senior Ashley Morris and junior Shanea Cotton put on quite a show for the thousands of local children on hand for Dawn Staley Day, as both netted career highs to lead Temple to a 66-53 victory over Atlantic 10 rival Charlotte on Wednesday.  Morris netted a career-high 32 points behind seven three-pointers. She was nearly unstoppable in the second half for the Cherry and White, where she scored 25 of her 32 points, including all seven three-pointers. Morris also added five assists and three rebounds. Cotton posted a career-high 17 points and just missed her second career double-double with nine rebounds. Cotton did most her damage in the first half, where she scored 13 of her 17 points. Junior Shenita Landry also played a big roll in the victory, scoring seven points and pulling down nine rebounds.

Morris leads Temple in scoring and assists, averaging 14.8 ppg and dishing 94 assists. Lady Comfort is averaging 9 ppg and a team-high 7.8 rpg.  Landry is posting a solid defensive effort of 24 blocks and 27 steals but LaKeisha Eaddy is tops on the squad in thefts with 38.

Amber Harris led all scorers with 20 points and classmate April Phillips scored a career-high 16 to lead Xavier past Rhode Island by an 80-63 score on Sunday.  Harris' 20 came on 7-of-16 shooting and she also notched her fourth straight double-double with 10 rebounds.  April Phillips was an automatic 6-of-6 from the field and she also snared six boards in only 16-minutes of action.  Ta'Shia Phillips scored 15 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double.  Jerri Taylor was a solid 6-of-7 from the floor en route to scoring 14 points in only 21 minutes of action.  Maureen Hester's all-around performance included seven points, five rebounds and four assists.

Harris leads three Musketeers in double figures with 15.8 ppg, while Phillips is second with 13.6 ppg and a team-high 11.2 rpg.  Taylor is third with 12.1 ppg.  Special Jennings has dished a team-high 65 assists thus far this season.

Today also marks senior Nicole Pittman's 22nd birthday.  Happy Birthday Pitt!!!

Back To School Day

If Charlotte learned one thing in its game against Temple on Wednesday it's don't leave Ashley Morris open behind the arc.  The senior scored a career-high 32 points thanks to seven three-pointers, all of which came in the second half.  Morris was just one trey and six points shy of the Liacouras Center record for three-pointers made and points scored in a game.
