Golf In Second Place After Day One Of SIUE Classic

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL - Freshman Sasha Bozic carded a one-under 71 to lead the Temple golf team on day one of the SIU-Edwardsville Cougar Classic at the PGA Club in Port St. Lucie, FL. The Owls recorded a team total of 297 (+9) and are 11 shots back of Division II power Indianapolis.
Bozic opened with a 37 on the front nine and fired a two-under 34 on the back to sit in second place. Classmate Andrew Mason is tied for fifth after a 40-34=74 (+2) while junior Paul Amess, who recently won the Bermuda Open, is tied for eighth with a 40-35=75 (+3).
Junior Adam Pifer is tied for 17th (41-36=77, +5) and sophomore Eric Plisko is tied for 20th (40-38=78, +6) to round out the TU scorecard.
Indianapolis' Justin Hueber recorded a school record 65 (-7) and leads the 42-player field at the 7.056-yard, par 72 course. The Greyhounds had a 286 (-2) and lead Temple (297), SIU Edwardsville (308), Minnesota State (313) and Coe (319).
