Golf In 15th Place After Round One At William and Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - Temple stands in 15th place after 18 holes at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate, hosted by William and Mary at the Kingsmill Resort. Sophomore Eric Plisko led the Owls with a 37-37=74 (+3) and is tied for 24th place. Play resumes tomorrow morning.
Junior Paul Amess, the reigning Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Week, is tied for 49th after shooting 38-38=76 (+5). Junior Adam Pifer (38-41=79, +8) and freshman Andrew Mason (40-39=79, +8) are tied for 70th, while freshman Sasha Bozic is tied for 86th after carding a 43-38=81 (+10).
Pifer had one of four eagles on the day, while Amess was steady with 14 pars, which tied for third most in the field. Pifer also led the field in par five scoring (-5).
Detroit Mercy's Mark Sommerfield (33-35=68, -3) and St. Bonaventure's Tom Whalen (32-36=68, -3) are tied for first after round one in the 104-player field. Division II Francis Marion leads the 19-team field with a two-over 286. Temple recorded a 308 (+24).
