Temple Finishes 14th At William And Mary Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - Temple improved its score by six strokes in round two and finished 14th at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William and Mary at the Kingsmill Resort on Tuesday. Playing in blustery conditions, the Owls carded a 308-302=610 (+42) to finish 41 strokes behind first place Francis Marion.
Senior Paul Amess was the top Cherry and White golfer, shooting a 76-74=150 (+8) to tie for 41st in the 103-player field. Sophomore Eric Plisko was a shot back of his teammate (74-77=151, +9) and tied for 49th.
Freshman Sasha Bozic (81-74=155, +13) tied for 68th and classmate Andrew Mason (79-77=156, +14) was the next Owl finisher. Junior Adam Pifer (79-81=160, +18) rounded out the Temple scorecard tied for 90th.
Amess had a tournament-high 27 pars, while Bozic was third with seven birdies. Pifer was second in par-five scoring (-4) for the tournament.
Francis Marion carded a 286-283=569 (+1) to beat second place Detroit Mercy by seven strokes. Detroit's Mark Sommerfield (70-67=137, -5) won the individual title with a birdie on the first playoff hole, edging FMU's Christopher Couch.
Temple takes two weekends off before returning to action April 5-6 at the Yale Spring Opener.
