Cole Breaks School Record In Hammer Throw At Towson

TOWSON, MD - Junior Amanda Cole shattered her own school record in the hammer throw as the Temple women's outdoor track team opened its season at the unscored Towson Invitational on Saturday. Cole set a new school record (173-3) and met ECAC qualifying standards in winning the event by over 30 feet. The New Castle, DE native also finished sixth in the discus (113-6).
Senior Noelle McKenzie won the 800m rnu (2:21.17) and second in the 1500m (4:51.17), while newcomer Sequoia McBall was second in the triple jump (37-8). Freshman Assata Cowart won the 400m hurdles (1:03.44) and is just .80 seconds off ECAC qualifying.
Senior Jessica Starace finished fourth in the hammer (128-2), while sophomore Passion Rutledge was sixth in the shot put (32-2). Sophomore Daisy Amato placed sixth in the javelin (99-3) as well.
Sophomore Brittney McRae was third in the long jump (17-3 1/4), while freshman Brittany Clybourne finished fifth in the event (17-0).
Temple is back in action this weekend at the Raleigh Relays at NC State.
