Women's Track Competes At Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, NC - The Temple women's track team competed against some of the region's best teams this weekend at the NC State Raleigh Relays. Junior Amanda Cole met ECAC standards in the hammer throw and finished third with a distance of 159-11. She was also 26th in the shot put (37-1 3/4).
Several Owls posted season-bests in the 400m, led by junior Carlleen Allison (57.84), who placed 29th. Freshman Paris Williams was right on her heels in 31st (57.84), followed by freshman Shadaya Bennett (59.00, 39th) and senior Cheryl Anscombe (59.11, 40th).
Senior Noelle McKenzie was fifth in the 1500m (Section II) with a time of 4:48.84. Freshman Rebecca Mims finished fifth in the 5000m (Section III) with a time of 19:04.39.
Reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Assata Cowart was 13th in the 400m hurdles in a season-best time of 1:03.04. She is just 0.50 seconds off ECAC qualifying.
Sophomore Melissa Gale placed sixth in the pole vault (10-0) and Sequoia McBall finished 12th in the triple jump (35-9 1/4).
In the relays, Temple finished second in the 4x200 (1:42.73) and fourth in the 4x400 (3:52.66).
