Women's Crew Places Seventh At A-10 Championships

COLLINGSWOOD, NJ - Senior Amanda Barr earned first team all-conference honors and the Temple women's crew team placed seventh with 61 points at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Conference Championships held on the Cooper River Saturday.
Rhode Island with 135 points won its first-ever A-10 Championship beat out second-place Massachusetts (119) by a 16-point margin. The Rams led the meet from start to finish after capturing first place in the first event, the Varsity 8 (7:09.0), and finishing the day with three gold medals and two runner-up results. Saint Joseph's (113) finished in third-place, just six points off the Minutewomen, while Dayton (81) was fourth. Rounding out the scoring was Duquesne (78) in fifth, George Washington (72), Temple (61), Fordham (47) and La Salle (18).
The Owls' Varsity 4 and Lightweight 8 boats led the way with third place finishes while the Varsity 8 won the petite championship.
The varsity 4 was comprised of coxswain Jennifer Azeles, Carolyn Bailey (stroke), Kendra Dickenson (3-seat), Brynn Moore (2-seat) and Kelly McAndrew (bow).
The lightweight 8 was comprised of coxswain Maureen McDermitt, Laura Austin (stroke), Katie Hoban (7-seat), Danielle Britton (6-seat), Nicole Wagner (5-seat), Meagan Rudge (4-seat), Jacqueline Swan (3-seat), Colleen Bianco (2-seat) and Sarah Cadman (bow).
The varsity 8 was comprised of coxswain Jill Ploof, Mary Webster (stroke), Laura Scullin (7-seat), Anne Mikolajewski (6-seat), Laura Altimari (5-seat), Bailey Chick (4-seat), Mary Peach (3-seat), Jessica Herrman (2-seat), and Amanda Barr (bow).
