Women's Track Has Five ECAC Qualifiers At Penn

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's track team posted a season-high five ECAC qualifiers at the unscored Penn Invitational on Saturday at Franklin Field. Freshman Assata Cowart won the 400m hurdles in an ECAC-qualifying time of 1:02.17. Classmate Paris Williams finished second in the 400m dash, beating the ECAC standard by over half a second with a season-best time of 55.85.
Other ECAC qualifiers were junior Devon DuPont, the 4x100 relay and the 4x400 relay. Dupont recorded a distance of 18-9 1/4 to finish second in the event, while the 4x400 was a winner in a time of 3:48.80. The 4x100 placed second in 47.24.
Temple also had plenty of winners and second place finishers. Junior Amanda Cole won the hammer throw (168-8) and Cheryl Anscombe won the 200m (25.04). Sequoia McBall was second in the triple jump (38-3 1/2) and senior Carlleen Allison placed second in the 200m (25.10).
The Owls will return to action at the University of Virginia this weekend at the Lou Onesty Invitational.
