Women's Crew Competes At Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - After a strong day on the river Friday, the Temple women's crew failed to qualify any of its three shells for the finals place second in their heats on Friday of the 70th Dad Vail Regatta on Saturday. The Owls' Varsity 8, Freshman/Novice and Lightweight 8 placed sixth, fifth and fourth, respectively, in their semifinal heats.

"The Varsity 8 had its fastest race of the season, but it was not enough on this day," said Temple coach Tim Hagan.

The Varsity 8 was comprised of coxswain Jill Ploof, Anne Mikolajewski (stroke), Laura Altimari (7-seat), Mary Webster (6-seat), Laura Scullin (5-seat), Bailey Chick (4-seat), Kendra Dickinson (3-seat), Jessica Herrman (2-seat), and Amanda Barr (bow)

The Owls' Freshman/Novice 8, comprised of coxswain Erin Buchanan, stroke Dana DiPentino, Megan Silk (7-seat), Caitlin Pennington (6-seat), Rebekah Barnes (5-seat), Nicole Miller (4-seat), Kayla Heston (3-seat), Rebecca Letizia (2-seat) and Allison Bates (bow), placed second to Orange Coast 83, nine seconds back.

The Lightweight 8 was comprised of Maureen McDermitt, Laura Austin (stroke), Katie Hoban (7-seat), Danielle Britton (6-seat), Nicole Wagner (5-seat), Meagan Rudge (4-seat), Jacqueline Swan (3-seat), Colleen Bianco (2-seat) and Sarah Cadman (bow).
