Cruz and McKenzie Named to A-10's Track and Field Academic All-Conference Team

PHILADELPHIA - Seniors Jasselle Cruz and Noelle McKenzie of the Temple women's track and field team have been named to the Atlantic 10's Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-Conference Team in voting conducted among the Conference's sports information directors.
Cruz, a native of Vineland, N.J., finished fifth in 400m hurdles at the Atlantic 10 championships, helping the women's team to its best finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships since 2003. She posted a season-best time of 1:04.54 in the 400m hurdles at TCNJ and finished second at the Lions Invitational with a time of 1:09.98.
In the classroom, Cruz earned a 3.73 GPA while majoring in Elementary Education.
McKenzie, a native of Feasterville, PA, finished 10th in the 800m at the Atlantic 10 Championships (10-11 3/4) and also helped the 4x800 relay team to a fifth-place finish (9:11:30). She finished fourth in the 800m at TCNJ and ran a season best time of 2:17.87 in the 800m at the Penn Invitational.
In the classroom, McKenzie earned a 3.85 GPA while majoring in public relations. She was also named as a member of Temple's Trustee Ten, which is given to the top 10 student-athletes at Temple.
La Salle graduate student William Rhea and Lamarra Currie of Charlotte were named the Atlantic 10 Student-Athletes of the Year in men's and women's outdoor track & field, respectively.
