Three Owls Head To Tallahassee For NCAA Regionals

TALLAHASSEE, FL - Junior Amanda Cole, sophomore Melissa Gale and freshman Assata Cowart will compete with the region's best track and field athletes this weekend at the NCAA East Regional, hosted by Florida State, on Friday and Saturday. Additional information about the regional can be found here.
Cole set the school record in the hammer throw this spring and will make her first appearance at the NCAA East Regional. She finished third in the event at the Atlantic 10 Championship (175-3) and was eighth at last weekend's ECAC Championship at Princeton.
Gale successfully defended her Atlantic 10 title in the pole vault on May 3, winning the event with a height of 10-11 3/4. She won the event as a freshman by clearing 11-0 and will be making her first appearance at regionals.
Cowart won the 400m hurdles at the A-10 Championship with a time of 1:02.42. At last weekend's ECAC Championship, the freshman finished 19th in the event with a time of 1:03.39.
The top five finishers in each individual event and the top three finishers in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays will automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, held June 11-14 in Des Moines, IA.
